Solutions are classified as acidic or basic based on their hydrogen ion concentration relative to pure water and the pH scale is used to rank solutions in terms of acidity or basicity (alkalinity). In this lesson we investigate acids and bases and the differences between them. We also look at the pH values of the acidic and basic substances.
